Book Review - The Hidden Magic of Walk Disney World

About the Book
Sure, it's the Happiest Place on Earth, but how much do the 45 million-plus people who visit the Disney World theme parks annually really know about it? From where to find all the hidden Mickeys to the truth behind Madame Leota's ring at the Haunted Mansion, readers learn all about the hidden magic that permeates these fabulous resorts in this tell-all handbook.

Readers also get the insider's take on:
  • The smell of home-baked cookies on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom
  • The Fountain of World Friendship in Epcot that contains water from rivers and oceans around the globe
  • Walt Disney's opening day speech tapped out in Morse Code in Frontierland
  • The eco-friendly benches (recycled milk jugs) in the Animal Kingdom
  • Two versions of The Great Movie Ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios
Complete with secret tips from Disney's Imagineers, this book is the perfect in-park.

My Take on the BookYes, we are HUGE Disney fans. We have been to Disney a number of times both with and without the girls and have read a lot of books on the hidden gems of the park so some of this book shared things that we were aware of. On the other hand the book also shared some things that we did not know as well.

What I liked most about this book was that it brings forth the hidden secrets that you might be able to find if you scour the internet, but instead it places all of them at your fingertips in just one book. The book allows the reader to be able to understand what they are seeing, smelling and feeling when in the park. You truly gain a much better appreciation of the imagineers at Disney that have taken so much time and effort to make Disney the special place that it is!

So if you are a fan of the park, or you yourself are planning a trip. this book is a must have and one that will definitely make your trip more enjoyable and more magical!

Ashley Tisdale Q&A- Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure

In celebration of the release we have some Q&A's we wanted to share with you as well as some clips.

Find out about Ashley Tisdale's first audition, favorite places in New York City, her personal sense of style, what life was like on the set of Sharpay, 10 thing you never new about Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure and more!

10 THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW ABOUT
 SHARPAY’S FABULOUS ADVENTURE
Pssst! Want to know the hottest on-set secrets about the fab new movie, Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure? We catch up with Ashley Tisdale and the rest of the crazy cast to bring you the lowdown…

SHARPAY SECRET #1
ASHLEY TISDALE HAD A LOT OF INPUT INTO THE LOOK OF SHARPAY!
Ever since Day One of the first High School Musical, I always had loads of ideas for Sharpay,” admits Ashley Tisdale. “I’d say things like, ‘Obviously, this chick [Sharpay] is crazy so why don’t I wear this skirt as a top?’ And that’s exactly what we’d end up doing! I think Sharpay looks great in the new movie. She’s growing up, but she still loves pink.”

SHARPAY SECRET #2
THERE WERE NO DOGGIE DISASTERS!
“Thankfully, there weren’t any doggy mishaps on the set of Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,” giggles actor Bradley Steven Perry.  The dogs were really good on the set. They were really well trained and well behaved. They were a joy to work with!”

SHARPAY SECRET #3
ASHLEY CELEBRATED HER BIRTHDAY ON THE SHARPAY SET!
“It’s my birthday on July 2, but I had to work it last year because I was busy shooting Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,” reveals Ashley. “I ended up celebrating it on the set, which was really cool! The cast and crew decorated my trailer and we had some amazing birthday cake. It was definitely a birthday to remember!”

SHARPAY SECRET #4
ASHLEY JUMPED AT THE CHANCE TO CONTINUE SHARPAY’S STORY!
“I love Sharpay, so I was really excited to jump on board with this new movie,” explains Ashley. “You don’t get to meet great characters like Sharpay too often, so I felt like I wanted to do this for my fans. The High School Musical franchise made me successful and Sharpay made me who I am in this business, so I wanted to go back and let her have her very own end to a great story.”

SHARPAY SECRET #5
ASHLEY MISSED HER HSM BUDDIES!
“I’m with an all-new set of actors on Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure because this is Sharpay’s solo story,” adds Ashley. “But I really missed my friends from High School Musical during the film shoot! It was really weird to walk onto the set as Sharpay without Zac and Vanessa being around. I missed them.”

SHARPAY SECRET #6
ASHLEY’S CELL PHONE INSPIRED SHARPAY’S RHINESTONE OBSESSION!
“Sharpay’s obsession with rhinestones goes back to the very first High School Musical,” reveals Ashley. “When we were shooting the first film, I went to the mall and got my cell phone covered in rhinestones. Everyone was doing it at the time. It was cool! As soon as the director [Kenny Ortega] saw it, he yelled, ‘Oh my gosh! It would be so great if Sharpay had rhinestones all over her outfits.’ He was totally inspired by my cell phone!”

SHARPAY SECRET #7
ASHLEY IS NOTHING LIKE SHARPAY IN REAL LIFE!
“Sharpay and Ashley are very different people,” chuckles Ashley. “Sharpay wears much more pink than I do in real life and she’s much more self-obsessed. I’m not a diva! However, Sharpay’s got a huge passion for acting and singing – and so have I.”

SHARPAY SECRET #8
THE NEW MOVIE IS VERY DIFFERENT TO HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!
Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure isn’t a musical, but there are definitely musical elements to the movie,” reveals Ashley. “Sharpay gets to perform some great musical routines, which were a lot of fun to work on. Trust me… You’re going to love it!”

SHARPAY SECRET #9
ASHLEY’S MOM JOINED HER ON THE SET!
“Whenever I had time off from the movie, I would hang out with my mom,” says Ashley. “I was so happy that she came along to Toronto, where we shot the movie. I love my mom! She was always helping out whenever she could!”

SHARPAY SECRET #10
THE NEW DVD IS CRAMMED WITH EXTRAS!
“There are lots of fun extras on the DVD and Blu-Ray discs for Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure,” giggles Ashley. “There are behind-the-scenes features on the making of the movie, as well as a piece on the evolution of Sharpay’s wardrobe. I hope you guys like it!”

WINNIE THE POOH: Easter-Themed Images, Easter Egg Designs & Coloring Sheets!

In honor of Winnie the Pooh returning to theatres this summer (July 15th), Disney has provided us with exclusive Easter-Themed Images of our favorite Hundred Acre Wood characters!

We also have included Coloring Sheets of these images that can be downloaded here https://www.relayit.net/pickup.php?c=ffvjhBsjLG37jSrkjq97zkPkc2bkwd6gt27g which can also be shared!

Finally, because Easter wouldn’t be complete without Painting and Decorating Eggs, below you will find some fun ways to design your eggs in the spirit of Winnie the Pooh and Friends!

Thanks!

Marshall J

WINNIE THE POOH is our beloved ‘hunny’-loving bear, so why not choose one of his favorite things - a honey jar – to create as an Easter egg? You want it to look like a real honey jar so use tape to cover the top of the egg where the lid will be and also a wide strip of tape around the middle for the ‘HUNNY’ label. Boil half a cup of water, mix in 30-40 drops of blue food dye, and one tablespoon of white vinegar. When it cools, gently lower the egg into the pot. The longer the egg remains in the pot, the darker the color gets! Once you are happy with the color, take it out with a spoon, dry it and remove the tape. Then stick the word ‘HUNNY’ in tape to the egg, and pop it back in the pot, just for a few seconds to make the ‘label’ pale blue. Finally, you can use acrylic paint for a blob of honey and leave the word ‘HUNNY’ in the egg’s natural color. If Pooh could see your Easter egg, he might think it looked so much like a honey jar that he would keep it in his personal collection!

TIGGER would be ecstatically happy about painting Easter eggs. You could have a go at painting an egg that looks like Tigger! First, use an orange watercolor crayon to paint the entire egg orange. While it dries, bounce around a bit – Tigger – style! Then draw in the tiger stripes with a steady hand and a black marker and fill them in with a black watercolor crayon. You can use a pink button for the nose and draw on eyebrows, eyes, mouth and whiskers with the black marker. Tigger-tastic!

EEYORE we all know would probably be less excited about painting Easter Eggs, so why not create one of his favorite food -- thistles, of course! All you need are some crayons, a little spinach and also purple and green acrylic paints. Draw the thistle with a crayon, to prevent the area from being dyed. Boil the spinach, letting it simmer for 45 minutes. Put the egg into the water to color it green. The crayon colored thistle won’t dye (due to the wax in the crayon), so you can use acrylic paints to finish your egg.  Even Eeyore would have to admit it looks pretty sweet.

PIGLET loves his friends, and his motto is “Even if you are rather small you can still have a very big heart.” Why not paint a Piglet style Easter egg, with huge hearts on it? First, draw seven hearts with a marker, and then use small pieces of sponge with different colors to paint the egg. You can paint the whole egg pale blue like the sky and then paint each of the hearts with one of the colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Piglet would love this Easter egg because it’s small and cute, just like him!

To have more adventures with Pooh and friends go and see WINNIE THE POOH, the brand new film by Disney, in theatres July 15th!

ABOUT THE MOVIE
Walt Disney Animation Studios returns to the Hundred Acre Wood with “Winnie the Pooh.” Featuring the timeless charm, wit and whimsy of the original featurettes, this all-new movie reunites audiences with the philosophical “bear of very little brain” and friends Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo—and last, but certainly not least, Eeyore, who has lost his tail.  “Ever have one of those days where you just can’t win, Eeyore?” asks Pooh.  Owl sends the whole gang on a wild quest to save Christopher Robin from an imaginary culprit. It turns out to be a very busy day for a bear who simply set out to find some honey. Inspired by three stories from A.A. Milne’s books in Disney’s classic, hand-drawn art style, “Winnie the Pooh” hits theatres on July 15th!

African Cats” Motion Picture Opens on Earth Day, April 22, 2011

“African Cats” is still more than two weeks from opening on Earth Day, but moviegoers have already bought $1.7 million in tickets to see the movie during its opening week (April 22-28) and save the African savanna in the process. Thanks to the “See ‘African Cats,’ Save the Savanna” initiative, Disneynature’s pledge to make a contribution in honor of everyone who sees the film opening week already translates to more than 9,500 acres of land within Kenya’s Amboseli Wildlife Corridor—and that number continues to rise.

“We are very impressed with the passion people are showing for ‘African Cats’—advance ticket sales for this film have surpassed both ‘Earth’ and ‘Oceans’ at this stage of the game, which shows how excited moviegoers are for both the movie and the ‘Save the Savanna’ initiative,” said Alan Bergman, president, The Walt Disney Studios. “The Amboseli Corridor is an essential passage utilized by so many animals in the African savanna. The advance ticket sales so far will allow Disneynature with African Wildlife Foundation’s assistance to conserve more than 9,500 acres of this passage—which equates to 19 Disney’s Animal Kingdoms, or nearly two-thirds the size of Manhattan—and we still have two weeks till opening day.”

“The ‘See “African Cats,” Save the Savanna’ program transforms the moviegoing experience into tangible on-the-ground conservation action. The commitment of Disneynature combined with the passion of moviegoers will raise critical funds to conserve the land that the magnificent species featured in ‘African Cats’ call home,” said Dr. Patrick Bergin, CEO, African Wildlife Foundation. “Through this amazing collaboration, we celebrate our 50th Anniversary together with Disneynature and all the people who are helping establish the Amboseli Wildlife Corridor.”

“See ‘African Cats,’ Save the Savanna” continues Disneynature’s conservation efforts, which began with its first release, “Earth” (2009), for which three million trees were planted in Brazil’s Atlantic Forest. The program in support of “Oceans” (2010) helped establish 40,000 acres of marine protected areas in The Bahamas, which contain miles of vital coral reef.

SEE AFRICAN CATS, SAVE THE SAVANNA
During the films opening week (April 22-28), a portion of the proceeds from that weeks ticket sales will be donated to the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund to ensure the future of lions, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, giraffes and a host of other animals in the vibrant African savanna. The AWF will be working to protect the Amboseli Wildlife Corridor, a passage between the Amboseli, Tsavo West and Chyulu Hills National Parks that is frequently used by a variety of wildlife.

The film, which will be released in theaters worldwide, opens in North America on April 22, 2011. Tickets for groups of 20 or more are already available in the United States by calling 1-888-DISNEY6. Tickets are also available online at www.disney.com/africancats.

There are also a number of innovative online efforts underway that allow moviegoers to pledge their commitment to the film and in doing so, support the cause.

For Nova Prescott (Aimee Teegarden), it’s a battle of wills as she finds herself drawn to the guy (Thomas McDonell) who gets in the way of her perfect prom. Fellow seniors Mei (Yin Chang) and Tyler (De’Vaughn Nixon) harbor secrets, while others face all the insecurity and anticipation that surrounds one of high school’s most seminal events. There are hundreds of nights in high school, but there’s only one “Prom.” Featuring an emerging ensemble cast and a powerful soundtrack, “Prom” hits theaters April 29, 2011.
